Lentil soup is one of the most famous soups because of its nutritional value and its good taste so that some people eat it with toasted bread as a separate meal alone, an Indian lentil soup is distinguished by its delicious spicy flavor, here is an easy cooking recipe


Indian lentil soup ingredients


  • 3 cups peeled red lentils
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 hot red pepper
  • 4 green chilies
  • 2 tomatoes, cut into small pieces
  • Half a teaspoon of ground dried ginger
  • 2 tablespoons fresh grated ginger
  • 6 cups of water
  • 5 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Half a teaspoon of black pepper
  • Half a teaspoon of turmeric
  • Half a cup of lemon juice
  • A tablespoon of cumin
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • One and a half teaspoon salt
  • To decorate: Fresh green coriander leaves


How to make Indian lentil soup


1- On the fire in olive oil, saute the onions until they turn golden

2- Wash the lentils very well, then put them on the onions and stir

3- Add the water and leave the pot over a gentle fire until the water boils for half an hour.

4- After half an hour, add the tomatoes and let the pot boil again for 10 minutes

5- In a blender, mix fresh ginger with dried ginger, red and green pepper, garlic, salt, turmeric, black pepper, and mustard, and after mixing them well, add them to the lentil soup and let it continue to boil for 10 new minutes

6- Add the lemon juice to the lentil soup and serve hot with the toast

For garnishing: Use fresh green coriander leaves
